Live reports from the Republican Headquarters via Satellite.
by Monty Dent on November 07, 2008
During Election Night, Clear Channel Satellite provided an audio backhaul, via satellite, from the Colorado Republican Headquarters. The satellite equipment consisted of a .98 Meter, auto acquire AVL antenna with a TracStar controller, Tiernan Audio Encoder DAC, Paradise Datacom L-Band Satellite Modem and a 6 Watt L-Band Ku BUC. The client was able to broadcast their show live, from inside the headquarters, in a high quality audio bandwidth setting directly to the satellite trailer. From the satellite trailer, it was downlinked to the Network Operation Center in Englewood, Colorado, where it was turned around and put on the Starguide platform on AMC-8. Affiliates were able to receive a clear, crisp audio broadcast from their satellite receiver that could not be achieved on a POTS line connection or internet streaming connection.
